An experienced and very wise external evaluation committee proved to be a key reason for Winthrop's INBRE I success. Winthrop Faculty and its Administration greatly benefited from insightful comments and suggested strategies to better focus investigator priorities and to more effectively implement the needed steps to further improve the research culture on Winthrop's campus. Three of the four INBRE I ISC members have graciously agreed to continue serving on the INBRE II Winthrop ISC. In light of Winthrop's INBRE II focus on expanded biomedical research opportunities for students from disadvantaged or underrepresented groups, two distinguished committee members with success in these areas have been added.
